What is my home worth? What would it be worth if I remodeled? These are two questions that are typically looming over every homeowner’s head, but the real question is where do you start? If you are considering doing a home renovation, you want to get the most value for your money, if or when you decide to sell your house. Choosing the right room to renovate is very important. The three main areas to focus on are the kitchen, bathrooms or the primary bedroom. Yes, finishing your basement will add to your square footage, but it will limit your potential buying market since not everyone utilized their basement, or it is just more house for them to clean or take care of. Think of areas of your home that you spend most of your time in – those are going to be the places you want to focus your attention on. Color palate is another one to consider if you want to ensure your home is timeless. Focus on colors that are closer to greys and beiges and then utilize the color(s) you really like in your decorating. The other thing to consider too is what era your home was constructed in. It might be difficult for someone to see the outside of a beautiful Victorian home and then enter to see something modern and industrial.  Most homes are adept for a more modern style, but there are some out there that might not fit in both categories.
