Contractor & Subcontractor Reliability
A reliable contractor ensures timely project completion, adherence to budget, and high-quality workmanship. When selecting the right contractor for your project, make sure you ask the right questions. We have talked about a lot of high-level things to take into consideration, but most people don’t investigate the smaller details. For instance, how organized is the contractor you are working with? Did they show up with a detailed bid that was printed out? Did they give you a timeline as to when the project will be completed? Did they let you know what the adjusted timeline would be if there were any delays? Organization is one of the biggest skills a contractor should have since they are coordinating the entire project – make sure to ask those questions. Make sure you are not required to put up a significant amount of money up front. Most contractors will require no more than 30% to start the project and usually have a payment schedule set up throughout the entirety of the project. This also gives you leverage to make sure the contractor is sticking to the timeframe, and there will be no unexpected delays. If the contractor is supposed to have “X” amount of work completed by the next payment, make sure that work has been done before issuing payment. By carefully considering these factors, you can increase your chances of finding a reliable contractor who will deliver a successful home remodel
